Handmade paper can be used to make journals, stationery, or can be framed as its own work of art! Come learn the basic techniques of making paper by hand in this one-day workshop! We set up the pigmented paper pulp (made in our own Hollander Beater), provide dishpan mould-and-deckle sets and decorative objects such as dried botanicals and fabric -- everything one needs to create a dozen or more 7” x 9” sheets of handcrafted paper. Students work in the large studio room and outdoor classroom and are encouraged to wear an apron and shoes suitable for standing on a wet concrete floor. At the end of the workshop, each student loads their handmade pages into a unique vacuum paper drying box to ensure an even, beautifully-crafted result. Students may pick up their dried handmade paper the following Tuesday at WaterWorks. All skill levels are welcome – no prior experience is necessary.
