WW - Painting Mountains in Pastel

It can be a challenge to capture the size and grandeur of a mountain in a painting, but there are some techniques that make it a bit easier. In this workshop, we’ll explore how simplifying shapes and focusing on atmospheric perspective can convey those feelings of excitement and wonder we often feel in the mountains. These lessons in pastel also will be applicable to oil and acrylic painters. A supply list will be provided upon registration.

**Please let us know if you require accommodations for this program.

Note:

Supplies:
• A variety of soft pastels in various colors, temperatures, and values (including earth tones and blues/violets for skies)
• White or light-colored sanded paper such as UART or LuxArchival*
• Sketchbook and pen or pencil for thumbnail sketches
• Some reference photos will be provided, but feel free to bring some of your own.

Isopropyl alcohol and brushes for underpinnings will be provided.

*We'll be using a wet underpainting technique, so you may want to consider having your sanded paper mounted to a panel or foam board for extra rigidity and to keep it from buckling.
