WW - The Art of Marbling Workshop

The art of marbling paper dates to the 1500s in the Middle East where these decorative papers were used as a background on documents to prevent erasing and forgery as well as bookbinding and other aesthetic applications. In this workshop, students create beautiful patterns on special paper using marbling paints, straw brushes, rakes and combs. Students are introduced to the fine art of marbling on paper, the process of making carrageenan, using alum, and how to create basic design patterns. Each student leaves with up to 15 sheets of marbleized paper. All materials are provided. All skill levels are welcome – no previous experience is necessary.
